Darkest Hour
Darkest Hour
(Sumerian Records)

Nope. Can’t do it… I followed Darkest Hour through the transition of Kris Norris, and even when they changed their sound on Undoing Ruin. It seems as though the loss of Ryan Parrish really has created a rift in the music. The one thing I held onto was the vocals. Now those have been compromised. Darkest Hour hinted at this in The Human Romance, but what were hints, have become outright cries vocally. It is as though they have digressed to 2002 and wanted to jump on the dead metalcore sound 12 years too late. Ryan would not have stood for this. And I don’t think you should either. As a metal album it is definitely not Hidden Hands; kind of a let down really.

It does have an experimental side to the sound but it doesn’t make up for the change.  I come from the camp that likes his metal to be metal and hardcore to be hardcore. This doesn’t float my boat. If you are into the metalcore dual vocals then maybe this is good for you. (Danger Reagan)
