Mestis – the brainchild of Animals As Leaders members Javier Reyes and Matt Garstka – will be releasing a brand new album next month, titled Polysemy. This highly anticipated release comes three years after their debut EP, Basal Ganglia, hit stores through Sumerian Records.
The instrumental group’s sound is influenced by the many acts its members have sharpened their teeth with over the years. They are a bit more laid back in comparison to Animals As Leaders, but they do have a similar energy as T.R.A.M. This is evident in their two latest singles off the upcoming album. The first new track is titled “Pura Vida,” and features guest musicians Mario Camarena and Erick Hansel of CHON. The second, released earlier today, is titled “Papillion.” You can stream both below.
